Social Impact: 3 THINGS to Know, Read and Hear

We get it. Life is crazy and balancing out your time can be super hard. With so much going on it’s difficult stay ahead of the learning game and easy to lose track of what’s happening in the world of social impact. The trick is to stop trying to read everything out there. There’s too much. And you’re too busy. Instead, give us roughly 3 minutes and we’ll brief you on the what you need to know, read and hear. If you’re passionate about creating positive social and environmental impact, our handpicked content is all you need to stay informed and inspired.

For the week starting 15/10/2019, here’s…

What you need to KNOW:

UN Sustainable Development Goals: Getting It Right with Atlassian, UNHCR, Wayside Chapel + More. Many large corporations, not-for-profits and startups have been making a positive social impact. Whilst many are getting it right, others need some help – which is why we are bringing in the experts to tell us how they do it. The objective of this panel discussion is to inform anyone interested in social impact about what works, and what doesn’t, when achieving the Sustainable Development Goals laid out by the United Nations. On Thursday the 24th October at 5.30pm, join Fishburners, Peepsride and their talented panel in Sydney.

What you need to READ:

11 Things to Consider Before Collaborating. Over the last four weeks, Moral Fairground have run a number of sessions called “The Collaborator”, where they have asked the business community to come together to collaborate on a social issue. While running these sessions and establishing stories for the conference, it became apparent that in business collaboration everyone strives to share resources, support each other’s endeavours, increase market share, learn new approaches and contribute to a much larger impact. But without a true understanding of what is involved in collaborating, collaboration could fall short. According to Moral Fairground, here are 11 key points that you should consider before exploring a collaborative relationship

What you need to HEAR:

Funding at the Edge. Why aren’t we working to fund more opportunities to convene social enterprises and others across the ecosystem together? Many funders are focused on funding programs, accelerators and incubators, when perhaps part of what we need to be doing is convening diverse people together and trusting that the magic will happen.

3 THINGS not enough?
