Making a Positive Social Impact? Enter the “Best Workplaces to Give Back” Awards!

Purpose, volunteer leave, fundraising and giving back to the community are the new buzz words at work – here’s why…..

With unemployment at a low 5%, the ‘war for talent’ in corporate Australia is at an all-time high. And on the front line in this war are Matched Donations, Volunteer Leave, Charity Gift Cards, Fundraisers and Workplace Giving. These pro social weapons are winning the battle; attracting, retaining and engaging the heads and hearts of workers. But which companies do this better than others? And who is the best?

To answer this question, GoodCompany is proudly launching the Best Workplaces to Give Back in 2019, celebrating Australian companies that make a positive social impact via Team volunteering, Skilled volunteering, Fundraising, Donating, Sponsorship, Equal pay for equal work, Diversity and more. This not only lights the way for talent to seek out companies that they want to work for and align with their purpose, but also assists consumers, impact investors, stakeholders looking to support purpose driven brands.

First launched in 2018, GoodCompany invited organisations from all sizes and industries to participate in a survey, explaining how they help their staff make a difference. GoodCompany experts along with help from external partners, assess and rank nominees using three main criteria: Impact, Context and Innovation. In 2018 the Top 10 Workplaces to Give Back were – IAG, Origin Energy, NAB, Westpac, Optus, Flight Centre, AECOM, ANZ, AGL and Small Giants.

CEO and Founder of GoodCompany, Ash Rosshandler, says “Gordon Gekko is long gone. Thankfully, the age of “Greed is good” is dead and today “Good is Good”. Professionals are looking for workplaces with meaning and purpose and giving something back to the community and The Best Workplaces to Give Back in 2019 points the way”.

GoodCompany is on trend with studies across the world highlight this trend. Of note…

  • 60 percent of workers would be willing to take a pay reduction to work for an empathetic company
  • 46 percent of employees want to have a positive impact on society through their work (Gallup 2018 State of American Workplace Research Report)
  • 63% of consumers prefer to purchase from purpose-driven brands.

As this awareness becomes a bigger focus for more companies and employees in 2019, the question is which companies are the Best Workplaces to Give Back in 2019?
