June Canavan Foundation Giving Program funds projects that create sustainable outcomes and allow people to help themselves in accordance with the principle of ‘a hand up, not a hand out’. The focus areas for the Foundation are: Sport, Education, Health and Conservation.
Dr June Canavan was a much loved sports physician and family doctor living and working on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia. Her life was cut short when she died in a plane crash while travelling to Kokoda, Papua New Guinea in August 2009.
The Foundation has established a Giving Framework which describes how we prioritise and allocate the distribution of Foundation funds.
Distribution of grants and donations will be made twice yearly in accordance with the Foundation’s grantmaking process.
There is no set grant size, however their distributions include small grants and donations (generally $1,000-$20,000) and large grants (generally $20,000-$50,000). Favourable consideration will be given to funding multi-year proposals with annual review.
