With a proud history that dates back to 1958, Good Design Awards remain committed to promoting the importance of design to business, industry, government and the general public and the critical role it plays in creating a better, safer and more prosperous world.
The Good Design Awards proudly showcase superior examples of good design to a national and international audience. The Awards represent the diverse spectrum of design with 10 specific Design Disciplines spanning more than 28 Categories, including Social Impact. The main objective of the Social Impact category is to recognise the role of design in creating a better society. The Awards define Social Impact as:
“The creation of something new or the improvement of existing solutions that meet pressing unmet social needs and improve people’s lives. It is the process of inventing and implementing novel solutions to address intractable or ‘wicked’ problems, drive societal change and/or promote environmental sustainability.”
Australia’s annual Good Design Awards program is one of the oldest and most prestigious international design awards in the world, promoting excellence in design and innovation. It is recognised by the World Design Organization (WDO) as Australia’s peak international design endorsement program.
