LaunchVic’s pre-accelerator program, CivVic Labs, invites public sector professionals to join forces with Victorian early-stage startups to prototype innovative solutions to public sector challenges.
Victorian government departments and agencies are invited to submit a challenge for their next cohort in early 2022.
About the program
Through a competitive application process, Victoria’s brightest founders will pitch their solutions to challenges posed by government in areas like health, mobility, workplace safety and sustainability.
The best ideas progress to a pre-accelerator experience where founders and government work together to build a white-paper proof of concept, supported by $10,000 funding, mentor networks and business building workshops.
At the end of the six weeks, founders have the chance to pitch for seed funding to bring their ideas to life.
CivVic Labs runs twice a year, with a $90,000 government sponsorship fee per challenge. The fee covers startup funding, seed funding and expert facilitation.
Public sector participants will spend a minimum of one day a week over 10 weeks, selecting and working with up to five startups and building their knowledge of innovative ways of working.
Benefits for government include:
– A de-risked environment to explore the market and test solutions
– A direct line to cutting edge technology
– Professional development for public servants to adopt agile ways of working
– Growing local jobs by supporting startups at their earliest stages
