Australian Social Enterprise Directories & Conscious Consumer Marketplaces

Whether you are looking for something special for yourself, on the hunt for the perfect gift for the quickly approaching holiday season, or procuring goods and services for your business, supporting some of Australia’s best organisations has never been easier. Over recent years, our online landscape has welcomed more websites that sell social enterprise, ethical, and sustainable products. We’ve rounded up a few of our favourites to make it easier to #switch2good. Happy shopping (supporting)!

Akili Australia

Their motto is “shape the world you want to live in,” and their shoes, accessories, bags, and homeware makes doing exactly that fun and rewarding. The marketplace connects Australian shoppers with female-led artisan enterprises from around the globe. Not only do the products empower the artisans, but they’re all made with cruelty-free and recycled or natural materials, too. Through a partnership with WWF, with every purchase, a tree is planted!

B Corp Directory

Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy. The B Corp website has a directory, which you can use to search and find brands that align with your values and find the right products for the business, home and life you want to cultivate.

Baskets with Purpose

Isn’t the goal of every gift for it to be life changing? Well, with Baskets with Purpose every gift is 100% life changing! The socially conscious gift baskets provide employment opportunities for people with special needs. Different size hampers are available and feature products procured from social enterprises around Australia. They’re packed by people with special needs at yet another Australian social enterprise, GG’s Flowers.

Curated with Conscience

This social purpose-driven gifting studio is based in Melbourne, but they ship Australia-wide. Whether you’re in need of a gift for yourself, your loved ones, or clients or colleagues, you’re sure to find something perfect—especially because the curated gifts support some of Australia’s best social enterprises! Several types of hampers are available, either stocked with chocolate, housewarming essentials, gifts for new mums or vegans, or some of our country’s best gourmet goodies.

Dinidae

For “good goods” sourced from Australia’s social enterprises and not-for-profits, this is the place to turn! The life-changing marketplace allows organisations to list their products and Dinidae provides them with a platform to connect with customers. As the marketplace grows, they’ll eventually be able to put half of their profits back into the sellers community. Currently, they’ve got several different products, like gift boxes, electronics, greeting cards, toys, clothing and accessories, homewares, and food and drink products.

For Dignity

Beautiful products are so much more when you know that they provide life-giving income to someone in need. For Dignity works with people in Asia who’ve been rescued from or are at risk of exploitation and provides them with Fair Trade conditions. The ethical products are also sustainable, and include bags, fashion apparel, gifts, homeware, and jewellery.

Greatest Good

Greatest Good connects for-purpose organisations to learning, training, resources and networks that maximise their impact on community, people and planet! Consumers choose the value areas that are important to them and Greatest Good shows the for-purpose organisations that meet those values. From there, consumers decide how they want to engage with and support them! Consumers can shop, donate, and attend courses and events, and there are also opportunities for working, volunteering and collaborating.

Goods 4 Good

Goods 4 Good was created to connect you with amazing brands that are making the world a better place – a place where you can find and support what is important to you. Goods 4 Good is where your everyday purchase can have the benefit of addressing some of the social and environmental issues in Australia and the world. Here, you can use the power of your consumer dollar for Good.

givvable

While not a marketplace, per se, givvable can help social enterprises and these marketplaces do even more and meet their sustainability goals. The platform helps businesses track the sustainability credentials of their suppliers. Whether an organization is committed to gender equality, sustainability, social aims, community, ethical goals, diversity, or governance, givvable makes it easy to see how existing and new suppliers perform.

hellogoodworld

hellogoodworld is “the marketplace for the conscious consumer,” and they make it easy to shop for our values. They’ve taken the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and transformed them into labels that allow consumers to make purchases that support things like quality education; affordable and clean energy; and reduced inequalities—to name just a few. The marketplace is a great place to turn for food and drink products, clothing, art, essentials for the home and garden, as well as beauty and entertainment products.

Moral Fairground

Moral Fairground’s Ethical Lifestyle Hub is an initiative that promotes impact-driven social enterprises and their products. Its purpose is to connect impact-driven organizations, showcase the many sustainable ethical products and services that appeal to consumer and corporates looking for products and services in line with their values, such as ethically sourced options, sustainable products, less harmful products, or interested in finding and supporting impact-driven enterprises.

Social Traders is the pioneer of Social Enterprise Procurement in Australia. They are the only Social Enterprise certifier and intermediary dedicated to connecting businesses and governments with Social Enterprises. Their Social Enterprise Finder is Australia’s first and only national directory of Certified Social Enterprises.
